Old Roman chant - Kyrie eleison

Древно појање Римске Цркве са својим мелизматичним медитеранским мелодијама (са латинским текстом) постепено се мењало под утицајем новог грегоријанског канона и јачања франачког утицаја у Италији. Посебан подстицај уметности у православном Риму нарочито од 7-9 века дали су бројни монаси са Истока који су се склањали у Италију пред исламским освајањима из Сирије, Палестине, али и пред иконоборачким римским царевима.

The Old Roman Chant, with its melismatic Mediterranean melodies gradually changed into what is today known as Gregorian Chant under the growing Frank influence in Italy. Particular contribution to the art and spirituality of the Orthodox Christian Rome, especially between 7-9 century was given by many Eastern Christian Monks who fled to Italy in front of Islamic conquests of Syria, Palestine but also finding refuge in time of Iconoclastic persecutions in the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium).
                    

Древни хришћански Рим до 9. века по својој уметности врло се мало разликовао од уметности Новог Рима (Константинопоља). Фреске сачуване у старој цркви Santa Maria Antiqua  још носе грчке натписе поред латинских. Још један краћи видео на италијанском:

 Имао сам прилику да ову цркву посетим још пре него што је отворена за јавност и био сам дубоко задивљен овим благом које је вековима почивало закопано (изнад цркве била је чак подигнута барокна црква која је уклоњена још 1900.г).

Old Christian Rome until the 9th century with its rich art was not at all different from the tradition of the Nova Roma (Constantinople). The marvelous frescoes preserved at the church of Santa Maria Antiqua (near Roman Forum)... still bear Greek and Latin inscriptions. One more video on the church in Italian https://youtu.be/LkdOwt8WiYA I had an opporutnity to visit this church a few years ago even before it was open for the public and was deeply impressed what treasure had been uncovered. Above the church which had been abandoned in time there was even a Baroque church constructed, which was later removed in 1900.
                 
Најлепше старе иконе Пресвете Богородице које се и данас чувају у Риму: Salus Populi Romani (Спасење народа римског), Santa Maria Advocata, Madona di Trastevere, Madona di Santa Francesca. Прва је заштитница града Рима и налази се у централној Богородичиној Цркви Санта Мариа Маггиоре. Топлина лика Санта Мариа Адвоцате (Богородице заступнице) је просто ненадмашна.

The remembering of the ancient Orthodox tradition of Christian Rome I would finish with most beautiful ancient Marian icons in Rome: Salus Populi Romani, Santa Maria Advocata, Madona di Trastevere, Madona di Santa Francesca. The first icon is the protectress of the City of Rome and her people and can be seen at Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral. The warmth of the expression of Santa Maria Advocata is simply unsurpassed.
